WOULD ALL THIS HAPPEN IF WE HAD STRUCK A SECRET DEAL? - YS BHARATHI

The vicious propaganda launched against the YSRCP today, reminds me of the Cuddapah by-election.
At that t
ime as well, a torrent of malicious lies was unleashed against Jagan, by his detractors hoping that they would win the election, but the masses saw through their game. The man on the street can discern between political opportunists and leaders who would always be prepared to make any sacrifice for them and remain committed to their word.
At that time, Jagan’s detractors alleged that he had struck a deal with the BJP! Soon, they changed track and accused the YSRCP of having a pact with the Congress! Does a party which swept 15 of the 18 seats for which elections were held in June, have any need to strike a deal with a party that managed to win just 2 seats? In truth, the false cases foisted on Jagan began well before the Cuddapah by-polls. But, we remained unperturbed then and
continue to be unruffled today.
We harbour no fear because neither my father-in-law nor Jagan did anything wrong and did not indulge in any  behind-the-scene, backdoor activities.
During the Cuddapah by-polls, twenty cabinet ministers descended on the scene, their suitcases filled with money, aiming to buy votes and win the elections. They made 10 candidates under the name of Vijayamma, filed their nominations to the Assembly seat and 20 under the name of Jagan Mohan Reddy for the Cuddapah Lok Sabha seat! Their intention was to confuse the masses and fool the people. They even went to the extent of instigating Jagan’s uncle to contest against him. His political opponents indulged in cheap politics — it was Jagan pitted against all of them. But, by God’s grace and the
overwhelming support of the people, both Jagan and my mother-in-law won by record margins.
Even today, when conspiracy after conspiracy is being hatched, when the ruling party and the opposition have ganged up to try to ensure that bail is denied by implicating Jagan in false cases, I draw strength and solace from God. I have implicit trust in Him. It is my fervent belief that people will teach a lesson to such political leaders who only know how to indulge in cheap and petty politics.
If this isn’t injustice, then what is? When Rajiv Gandhi was assassinated, the CBI removed his name from the chargesheet filed in the Bofors case. We have been witnessing what the CBI is now doing — after a leader’s death, it has deleted the name of ‘government’ in the FIR and has substituted it with his name! In the EMAAR case, Chandrababu Naidu has not even been called in for questioning!
People are watching how a woman first lost her husband — who meant everything to her, a man of such standing and stature, in tragic circumstances. She now finds her son on whom all her hopes rest, implicated in false cases and put behind bars. People are watching how the ruling party and opposition have ganged up against Jagan with their despicable politics. And above all, God is watching the goings-on. When the time comes, people will bless Jagan in a spectacular, memorable manner.
Tormenting Jagan is the sole objective of his detractors, who have thrown all norms of morality to the winds. Every citizen is entitled to bail after 90 days; it has been 114 days since his unlawful arrest was effected. Yet, motives are being ascribed to us when Jagan's bail petition is coming up for hearing!
They claim we have struck a secret deal. We don’t enjoy the power and authority his detractors do, nor do we have any clandestine pacts with those in power. However, God and the masses are with us—it is this belief that has kept us going for more than three months now.
Come to think of it—if Jagan had struck a secret deal with someone, would he be behind bars today? Chandrababu, who allocated lands to EMAAR, was not even questioned in the case, forget about being arrested! Similarly, wouldn’t Jagan have been a free bird, instead of being in prison, if he had done a covert deal with his tormentors? Would he find himself implicated in false cases in this fashion?
