In an interesting development, two senior Congress MLAs called on opposition leader and TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu at his chambers in the Assembly on Wednesday.
They both asked for Naidu's support for their respective causes. While senior MLA J C Diwakar Reddy, a supporter of chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy, wanted Naidu to extend cooperation for the smooth conduct of the House, CM's critic P Shankar Rao wanted the TDP support for him when he speaks against the CM on June 14 on the issue of alleged police excesses against him during his arrest in a land grabbing case.
After the meeting, Diwakar Reddy told the media that he had met Naidu to request him to cooperate with the government to discuss people's issues in the House. He termed Naidu as 'maternal uncle,' perhaps wittily alluding to the TDP's support to the Congress government that helped it survive the no-confidence motion last March.
