The YSR Congress today blasted TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu’s son Mr N Lokesh for bulk-texting fictitious survey results which stated that the TDP would emerge the single largest party if elections were held now.
Over the weekend, a text mail was doing the rounds. It was sent by BZ-PEDGES, apparently a bulk message sender ~ “People’s Edge Founded by Psephologists”. Their AP survey on 7 June revealed that the TDP would get 117 seats, followed by the YSR Congress at 63, the TRS at 48 and the Congress with 44. The text was also received by The Statesman.
“If Mr Lokesh wants to cheat this way, his political beginning will turn into this political grave,” YSR Congress MLA Mr B Karunakar Reddy said. He indirectly referred to Mr Naidu’s attempts to install his son as their heir-apparent.
“A Google search on People’s Edge showed that most are HR and management companies.”
“He wants to show that with such so-called survey reports they are strong and well placed, while in fact they are weak.”
When asked how they knew that Mr Lokesh was behind the texts, Mr Reddy said: “We have enough proof that he orchestrated it.” He said the voter is not so gullible to believe such misinformation. “This kind of so-called surveys might only help in preventing their party leaders from deserting them. Fake surveys have long been part of Mr Naidu’s ideology. Let him conduct an impartial survey. It would certainly show that the YSR Congress will win at least 190 plus seats in the 294 member Assembly,” Mr Reddy said. Mr Lokesh runs his family-owned company, Heritage Foods.
