According to highly placed sources in New Delhi, the answer is ‘yes’! The controversial meeting between CBI chief, Ranjit Sinha and AICC general secretary in-charge of Andhra Pradesh affairs Digvijay Singh was reportedly on the scams of Chandrababu Naidu during his 9-year stint as Chief Minister of AP. It was also known that CBI possessed a detailed report on Naidu’s misdeeds, as the State was rocked by scandal a day in Naidu’s term.
According to the same reliable sources, a large scale of complaints of corruption against Naidu were enlisted in the abundant data possessed with the CBI. Among many cases, the most brazen act of corruption was the allotment of large extents of lands at less than 5% of the market value to IMG Bharath, a fraudulent company, which falsely claimed to be the subsidiary of IMG Academies, Florida, USA, an expert Sports School. Naidu government did not ever try to confirm the claims of IMG Bharath, which had only a paid up share capital of Rs. One lakh. Therefore, a company with just Rs one lakh share capital was ridiculously entrusted to take hold of hundreds of crores of project. In that one of the biggest scandals in India, a caretaker government under Naidu allotted two bits of land totalling in all to 850 acres of prime land to a hoax company IMG promoted by a close associate of Naidu, Ahobila Rao.
CBI chief’s meeting with Digvijay Singh was a precursor to the move against Chandrababu Naidu, sources said.
