Has AICC state affairs incharge Digvijaya Singh left for Delhi after concluding his two-day mission in the state by reasonably convinced that chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy will not cross the Rubicon?

According to sources, during his two-day stay in the state capital, the AICC point man evinced much interest on the future moves of Kiran Reddy, who openly announced that he did not want to choose between his loyalty to the Congress and Samaikyandhra, in the wake of the T-bill being sent to the State Assembly.

After interacting with the Chief Minister and several ministers and party seniors from Seemandhra, the AICC general secretary is learnt to have been satisfied by the answers he got on the political moves of Kiran Reddy.

According to sources, even the Chief Minister, during his two meetings with Digvijaya Singh here, told his party incharge that he has no intention to quit the party because of which he has been able to sit on the CM’s throne.

“I have no intention to launch a political party as being reported in the media. I am opposing the Centre’s decision to bifurcate Andhra Pradesh only to echo the aspirations of the people of my region,” Kiran Reddy is learnt to have told Singh.

It is learnt that Kiran Reddy tried to convince Digvijaya Singh during his interaction with him that his open defiance of Centre’s T-decision is helping the Congress party keep its cadre in good humour. Moreover, because of his aggressive stance, he could effectively arrest desertions from the party to other parties in Seemandhra, Kiran is understood to have told his party general secretary.

According to sources, the Chief Minister also told Digvijaya that he was able to keep the Congress MLAs from Seemandhra from resigning from their membership. By doing so, he successfully averted a constitutional crisis in the state before the T-bill got to the state Assembly.

According to a top leader, before leaving for Delhi, Digvijaya Singh expressed confidence that the Chief Minister will finally abide by the party’s T-decision.

Digvijaya also reportedly asked Telangana Congress leaders not to attack the Chief Minister. 

“Don’t find fault with Kiran Reddy. He sent the T-bill to the Assembly very quickly. In Madhya Pradesh, we had taken 15 days time to send the State Reorganisation Bill to the State Assembly for debate when Chhattisgarh was formed. But here, Kiran Reddy has not taken much time to send the T-bill to Assembly,” Digvijaya is learnt to have told the T-Congress delegation headed by deputy chief minister C Damodara Rajanarasimha.

In fact, a senior minister from Seemandhra sees the T-bill being sent from the secretariat to the Assembly within 17 hours of it reaching Hyderabad as an indication that Kiran Reddy is falling in line.

In the wake of Digvijaya Singh’s reported confidence that Kiran Reddy will not defy party’s decision, now Telangana Congress leaders believe that everything goes as per the AICC high command’s action plan on the floor of the House when the bill comes up for debate.
