president Y S Vijayamma today announced that her daughter Sharmila would
undertake the mass contact programme and it is going be a padayatra.

president Y S Vijayamma today announced that her daughter Sharmila would
undertake the mass contact programme and it is going be a padayatra.
Addressing media persons at her Lotus
Pond residence after the party’s Political Affairs Committee meeting,
Vijayamma said that Sharmila would begin her padayatra on October 18 at
Idupulapaya in her home district of Kadapa and walk throughout the State
to reach Itchapuram, bordering Odisha. A detailed road map is being
drawn, she explained.
“Soon after Jagan is freed, he will begin the padayatra where Sharmila will end. However, as along as Sharmila is on the yatra I will be addressing the rallies off and on, at least once in a couple of days,” Vijayamma added. “In fact, the party leaders have advised me to take up the exercise. Since I am suffering from health problems like arthritis and on the medical advise I have decided not to venture,” she explained.
The decision was taken at the Political Affairs Committee meeting and it had the approval of party president Jaganmohan Reddy, Vijayamma added. Jagan wanted Sharmila to undertake the yatra till he is freed and once Jagan comes out, he will take up from Sharmila, she noted.
“Jagan wanted us to be always with the people and mingle with them so that we will have the first hand information on their problems. Both the ruling Congress and the main Opposition Telugu Desam Party (TDP) had miserably failed in meeting the aspirations of the people,” she said adding that it is only the YSRCP that can rise upto their (people’s) expectations. “People have reposed immense faith in us. And, we will stand by them at all the times,” she stated.
Listing out the failures of the Congress Government in the State, Vijayamma said that the prices of essential commodities have skyrocketed, the basic facility of diesel is not available for the 104 ambulances, utter unhealthy conditions are prevailing in government hospitals with doctors rarely being present, not even a single ration card was issued after YSR’s demise and even a single house was constructed in the recent past.
Pavala Vaddi scheme is no longer relevant and farmers and women are not getting their due benefits from the Government. “No one can predict when power supply will be stopped and when it will be restored. YSR had promised nine-hour supply to the farming sector. But now power is not available even for an hour in the day,” she narrated. “All these schemes are closer to the heart of YSR and the party will reactivate all the departments that are now in deep slumber,” she observed.
Stating that total injustice is done to Jagan, she said both the State unit of the Congress and the TDP are hand-in-glove in preventing Jagan from getting bail. “We will expose all their evil designs during our padayatra and also the failures of the post-YSR dispensations and how the people suffered under Chandrababu Naidu’s rule.”
People are eagerly waiting for the golden rule of YSR “and we promise that we will live upto their expectations,” Vijayamma added.
