NEW DELHI: YSR Congress chief Jagan Mohan Reddy is planning to end his long absence from Parliament by attending the winter session next month. The move, according to sources close to Reddy, indicates his readiness to act as the face of the 'wide-spread political opposition' to theTelangana Bill in the House when the government will try to pass the bill.

"YSR Congress leader Jagan Mohan Reddy may attend the Lok Sabha during the winter session of Parliament. Jagan's resignation, following his break away with Congress as well over his opposition to the decision to divide Andhra Pradesh, was rejected by the Speaker. Now that the government is planning to try and get the Telangana Bill through and he will lead the opposition against the bill", a senior YSR Congress leader told ET over the phone from Andhra Pradesh.

Reddy, keen to position as Congress' mostformidable rival in Andhra politics, attending the winter session could have a larger impact on `the Telangana politics' inside Parliament. He could become the rallying-point of major anti-Congress regional parties and test skills of government managers.

The fact that Reddy has furiously networked with various parties opposed to the UPA could make him a convenient proxy for those parties wanting to block Congress push for Telangana. Jagan had met Rajnath Singh of BJP, Mamata Banerjee of Trinamool Congress, Navin Patnaik of BJD, Prakash Karat of CPM and Sharad Pawar of NCP. He is also expected to meet leaders such as Mulayam Singh and Jayalalithaa soon.

While Mamata Banerjee and Patnaik are interested in making Jagan Reddy a tactical regional ally, CPM is seeking alliance with him. While for all these parties Jagan may be a suitable face to lend their backing when he tries to be the face of anti-Telangana protest inside Parliament, BJP too may find him a useful ruse.

While BJP, given its support to Telangana cause, may find it difficult to oppose the bill directly, with NDA partners it would be more than happy to lend indirect support to Jagan if he could mobilise enough forces to derail the bill.

Since Congress has high electoral stake in the passage of the Telangana Bill, all anti-Congress parties too have equal stake in trying to block the bill, directly or indirectly.

Jagan Reddy's party is planning to make a huge protest when the bill is referred to theAndhra Pradesh Assembly for taking its view. Sharad Pawar's statement on Wednesday that Telangana Bill should be properly discussed in the state Assembly is seen in Congress circles as NCP chief 's way of appeasing YSR Congress.

In the event of an organised political plot derailing the Telangana Bill in the short-duration winter session, Congress plans to calling a special session of Parliament to push Bill through.
