The stage is set for the entry of former minister Mopidevi Venkataramana into the YSR Congress party along with his family members, followers and supporters of the Congress party.
Mopidevi, who has been languishing in Chanchalguda jail in connection with VANPIC case for more than a year, has come to an understanding with YSR Congress party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy to that effect.
While he would join the party in the presence of Jagan within the jail premises, his family members led by his brother Harinath and hundreds of his followers would formally join the party in the presence of Jagan’s mother and party’s honorary president Y S Vijayalakshmi on July 5 or 7.
Mopidevi, who was a minister in the Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, K Rosaiah and N Kiran Kumar Reddy cabinets between 2004 and 2012, is terribly upset for being ignored by the party in general and the chief minister in particular.
While Kiran has defended two other former ministers Sabita Indra Reddy and Dharmana Prasada Rao in the alleged illegal assets case of Jagan and even announced that the government would provide all legal assistance to the two leaders, he did not come to the rescue of Mopidevi.
All that the chief minister said in the assembly was that Mopidevi would get assistance from the party and not the government.
